What you will do
As a Data engineer, you will play a central role in our digital transformation by enabling Powertrain Engineering organization's to efficiently access and take advantage of the various and large amounts of data produced.
By collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, your main mission will BE to develop and implement data architecture & products that help analyze and process data.
You will build, test, maintain data pipelines and data products suitable for analysis, create dashboards for reporting or monitoring and deploy algorithms in performance-efficient code for R&D projects.
With your knowledge and technical skills in data engineering as well as the support of the community of Data Scientists/Engineers, you will contribute defining technical strategies for AI projects development and deployment in Volvo data infrastructures.
Finally, you will provide advice, mentoring and technical expertise to foster a data culture, essential in this journey.
Your future team
You will BE part of the Data & Simulation team, in the Powertrain Engineering department, in Lyon.
Our core mission is to accelerate powertrain engineering through the design, development and maintenance of complete systems using our cutting-edge digital technologies : Data Science & Simulation.
We are also helping our department mature and evolve in its transformation to BE more data-driven.
In our team, we are 7 engineers, driven by curiosity, and IT is important for us to think outside the box and try new things to BE as successful as possible.
And more important, we firmly believe that a united team that is passionate about what IT does is the key to an efficient and quality work environment !
Who are you?

Passionate by Data Science and AI, you have an engagement to transform theory into attractive models or tool solutions to BE able to deliver a business value.
You are a team player with drive to change through collaboration, co-operation, sharing insights, solutions and ideas.
Other requirements for the position are :
- Engineering or MSc degree in Computer Science, Data Science or similar fields
- Strong knowledge and experience in ETL and programming languages (SQL, Python/PySpark, Spark, Airflow)
- Experience in deployment et versioning : DEVOPS (kubernetes, argoCD), Github or Jenkins
- Experience in Databricks (or similar tools) and visualization tools (such as Power BI, Grafana, Streamlit)
- Knowledge of AI algorithms (neural networks, computer vision, natural language processing) and Deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch)
- Communication skills, both written and oral
- Fluency in French/English
As a plus : Knowledge or experience in automotive / mechanics, Leading projects, Agile/Scrum methodology, Safe framework, Jira/ Confluence
