As part of its International Proposals Management team, Bouygues Travaux Publics contributes to the business development process by developing high-quality, customised commercial documentation and bid responses for major public and private infrastructure projects around the world.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Technical Bid Writer to join our International Proposals Management team.
Working closely with Proposal Managers, Business Developers and technical teams, you will play a key role in developing clear, compelling and technically accurate bid documentation in English.
You will be responsible for transforming complex technical and commercial information into engaging, well-structured narratives that respond directly to client requirements and showcase Bouygues Travaux Publics' expertise, capabilities and value proposition.
The role will cover a broad range of civil engineering and construction activities, including civil works, marine works, tunnels, bridges, roads, geotechnical engineering and multidisciplinary engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Bid Writing & Content Development
Develop, write, update, adapt and edit bid narratives and supporting documentation in line with tender requirements and submission strategies.
Produce clear and compelling content covering a wide range of topics, including:
Design and engineering capability
Construction capability and methodologies
Project and programme management
Financial capability
PPP delivery
Risk management
Quality management
Health & safety
Sustainable development
Plant and equipment
Project experience and technical solutions
Translate complex technical and project information into concise, accessible and persuasive content suitable for a range of audiences, from technical specialists to senior decision-makers.
Ensure that all narratives are aligned with the client's requirements, evaluation criteria and the overall bid strategy.
Technical Accuracy & Quality
Work closely with technical and operational teams to gather, understand and validate the information required for bid submissions.
Ensure technical content is accurate, consistent and appropriately presented throughout proposals.
Review and edit contributions from subject matter experts to ensure clarity, consistency, quality and compliance with submission requirements.
Analyse tender documentation and identify key requirements, themes, evaluation criteria and opportunities that should be reflected in the written response.
Proposal Management & Collaboration
Work closely with Proposal Managers and the wider International Proposals Management team throughout the bid production process.
Interface with Business Development, Engineering, Construction, Commercial and other technical teams to solicit and develop relevant content.
Contribute to proposal planning, content development and review processes, often working across multiple bids and competing priorities.
Collaborate with the extended proposal management team to improve and maintain the existing proposal library, ensuring content remains accurate, relevant and up to date.
Continuous Improvement
Contribute actively to discussions within the Proposal Management team and share ideas for improving the quality and efficiency of bid production.
Identify opportunities to improve existing processes, tools, templates and proposal content.
Support the development of best practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of the team's ways of working.
Essential Skills & Experience
University degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Business, Marketing, Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline.
Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar technical writing, bid writing or proposal production role.
Exceptional written English, with native-speaker level or full professional proficiency.
Previous experience working in a bid production environment.
Strong ability to analyse and understand client requirements and tender documentation.
Demonstrated ability to write and structure complex technical information in a clear, concise and engaging way.
Strong attention to detail, with a rigorous approach to accuracy, consistency and document quality.
Excellent planning, coordination and time management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work to tight deadlines.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
Basic understanding of French would be an advantage.
Professional experience in the public infrastructure or civil engineering sector would be an asset.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience producing bids for major infrastructure, civil engineering or construction projects.
Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.
Knowledge of major infrastructure sectors such as tunnels, bridges, roads, marine works or geotechnical engineering.
Experience working on international tenders and complex public or private procurement processes.
Familiarity with proposal libraries, content management systems and structured bid production processes.
Understanding of PPP projects and/or major infrastructure delivery models.
Experience developing executive summaries, project descriptions and value propositions for senior client audiences.
Location
The role will be based at Bouygues Travaux Publics' premises, with the flexibility to work from home two days per week.
Physical presence at our premises will be required three days per week.
