Your mission, roles and responsibilities

In the framework of a continued strategic review of its products and businesses, FORVIA need to acquire a comprehensive and up-to-date vision of the technology landscape, which is constantly evolving driven by macro-trends linked to electrification, autonomous driving, sustainability, safety, affordability and customization. Immense resources are working worldwide to create value and competitive advantage within automotive OEMs and tier 1 suppliers: capturing quickly latest insights is essential to position the Group early on critical technologies and build differentiating edge.

Previous approaches of scientific watch were using automated search on identified web sources through key words.

Latest LLM developments allow to consider on-line extensive semantic-based crawling on the open web, together with comprehensive search on authorized password protected contents (subscriptions, studies...) and internal reports and documents.

Source formatting and embedding allow to build internal vector database of meaningful information, together with their metadata.

Eventually LLMs will allow automatic RAG-based production of various reports: bespoke newsletters, alerts, extensive reports... for strategy support.

Of course, the full process needs to demonstrate responsible AI approach: regulation and ethics compliance, technical robustness and trustfulness for human augmentation.

Main contributions expected

- Architecture & tools:

- Together with GIT (Group Information Technology), help defining the necessary tool architecture, in compliance with Group policy, especially cybersecurity and sovereignty.
- Propose a make-or-buy analysis to define potential external contributions both for tool design and further on-going maintenance.

- Data sources:

- Spot the right open-source information not to be missed.
- Identify the needed restricted information already available within the Group and potential deletions / additions to consider.
- Identify in-house useful information to capture.
- Anticipate future data transfer potential restrictions between main regions (Asia/China, Europe, US...) and propose remediations.

- Database structure:

- Propose and implement database architecture, consistent with existing Group tools, including Palantir ontology.
- Study and implement data processing, cleaning, tagging and embedding.

- Retrieval and reporting:

- Identify various user needs within Group, with Group Technology as a first client.
- Propose and create various reporting formats (newsletters, alerts, reports...) with human in the loop as necessary.
- Propose customizable formats, for users to build their own reports.
- Consider building a business for selling (non-confidential) report and information outside the Group to interested parties (private, public, individuals, databases...).

Organization & Reporting

- Place of work:

- The job will be located in FORVIA Headquarters in Nanterre (rue des Champs Pierreux).
- Some short term travels (few days) to other places or countries might need to be organized (all costs covered, according to FORVIA travel policy).
- Part of the activity might happen in a work from home mode: the intern needs to demonstrate appropriate equipment and connectivity to this end.

Your profile and competencies to succeed
- Working language will be English. French is a plus.
- An excellent background in data sciences, and more specifically generative AI.
- A solid background in engineering consistent with automotive.
- Literate in usual datascience tools, like Python, Tensorflow, SQL, Microsoft Office suite...
