At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, more than 80 000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.
Could you be the full-time Product and Software Integration Engineer - Remote Train Operation Solution in Villeurbanne (69 - France) we're looking for?
Your future role
Take on a new challenge and apply your technical expertise in a cutting-edge field. You'll work alongside an innovative, collaborative, and experienced team in an international context.
You'll play a key role in developing a pioneering remote train operation solution, directly contributing to the future of autonomous mobility. Day to day, you'll work closely with experts in train systems, software, user experience (UX), and perception sensors. You'll specify, integrate, and qualify Remote Driving functional components-selecting hardware/software building blocks (in particular cameras, video systems)-and implement key functions with safety and cybersecurity considerations. You will also have the opportunity to participate in laboratory and on-train tests to validate solutions and qualify components in real-world environments on our prototypes.
What you'll do:
Identify product needs and requirements in cooperation with system and software teams
Implement appropriate technological strategies to solve challenges, interfacing with external providers (sensor manufacturers, video experts, etc.)
Develop interfaces and integrate building blocks into the system, in collaboration with the software team
Participate in laboratory and on-site tests; build tools for monitoring and commissioning of the integrated solution
Conduct technology scouting and benchmarking to assess make-or-buy options, constraints, and application contexts; maintain an active watch on relevant solutions
Ensure adherence to best practices in testing, quality assurance, and cybersecurity
Promote Alstom's Code of Ethics and uphold high standards of ethical conduct
All about you
We value passion and attitude over experience. That's why we don't expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we've listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:
Degree in engineering or a Master's with significant experience in software development, embedded systems, or robotics
At least 3 years of experience in one or more of the following: robotic applications, embedded real-time applications, system design, testing, and integration
Proficiency in C++ and Python, and in version control (Git)
Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, MQTT, etc.)
Experience in robotics, autonomous systems, or user interface development is a plus
Strong problem-solving skills: rigorous, analytical, and critical thinking, with creativity; able to synthesize and document technical topics and make decisions
Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong collaborative mindset: you enjoy teamwork in challenging and sometimes uncertain contexts, are open-minded, and motivated by multicultural environments
Experience working with external suppliers and/or customers in a project environment is a plus
Fluent in both French and English; German is a plus
You don't need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you'll be proud. If you're up for the challenge, we'd love to hear from you!
