We are looking for a Container Depot Management System (CDMS) and Terminal Solution Project Director for a mission with one of our clients, a global leader in maritime transport.
The selected candidate will lead the implementation of IT systems dedicated to the management of empty container depots (CDMS) and terminal solutions (TOS, GOS, OCR, etc.).

Overview of Role :
- This mission is clearly oriented towards IT delivery management in empty container depot industry and consists of 2 distinct phases :
- Firstly, project management for the implementation of a new CDMS for a new empty container depot (=Greenfield) located in the middle east (the role would BE project Director). In addition, You will also BE given additional subsidiary tasks related to other CCIS IT depots projects worldwide.
- Secondly, management of a more ambitious CDMS replacement program for all CMA CGM Group depot terminals (the role would BE more program Director)
- Whatever the phase, your role will BE to define and track the pillars of project management : Scope, Budget, Planning, Risks & Decisions. In addition to these project management pillars, you will also BE responsible for supplier contract(s) compliance and trigger potential escalation processes.
- As the second phase will most likely BE organized in deployment waves, the team will BE probably reinforced by project managers responsible for one or more deployment waves that you will fully coordinate.
- Whatever the phase, part of your role will BE to coordinate and to constantly align the 3 major players : the head office teams, the local depot teams and the IT supplier team.
- IT is your sole role to implement a robust and innovative strategy for the container depots and subsequently manage all the related projects :
- All phases combined - Framing, Plan, Design, Implementation, Testing, Training, go-live and post go-live support)
- All type of projects - IT Infrastructure, Network, Datacenters, Security, Container Depot Management System, Terminal Operating System, Finance System, Container Sales Systems, Organization).
- You are part of CCIS's & CMA CGM's IT Terminals Group and report directly to the CCIS IT Lead
- Being the head of all the projects of the program you manage, you are expected to operate with significant independence and minimal supervision of the management.
Activities :
- As a Project Director your responsibilities are, but not limited to, the following :
- Provide leadership, through strategic direction and active engagement, to align the depots' IT strategy development and execution process with corporate strategy requirements and outcomes.
- Ensure that the depots' systems and the information on them are protected in accordance with Information Protection Policies and Standards.
- Manage the project including at least Business scope, budget, planning, dependencies, risk management, major decisions, action's plan, etc.
- Ensure the projects are completed within budgets and schedules while meeting business needs, objectives and design guidelines.
- Define and implement mitigation plans to manage risks.
- Identify the decision required and prepare the elements to BE submitted to the top management for decision-making.
- Build, lead and monitor the action plan
- Ensure the proper execution of the contract with contractor : Deliverables, activity, task, task duration, processes, etc.
- Lead and work with various actors with different profiles : The company's CEO, CFO and CIO, Business referent, IT architect, Enterprise architect, IT Security project manager, worldwide suppliers, etc.
- Facilitate communication and exchanges between the different project actors (from the holding, the regional area and the terminal).
- Moderate the steering committee, project committee and other project meetings. Ensure the drafting of meeting/committee presentation and minutes.
- Prepare and present high-level reporting, mitigation plan and proposals/recommendations to top management.
- Provide IT good practices for all project phases.
- Monitor progress, provide financial control and ensure quality of the project(s)
- BE responsible for ensuring that sub project managers related to your project :
- Manage the project team including engineers, consultants, developers and support.
- Develop schedules and budgets for assigned projects.
- Identify and evaluate alternative solutions to best meet program goals.
- Prepare detailed schedules, cost estimates and documentation for procurement authorization.
- Ensure the project is completed within budgets and schedules while meeting business needs, objectives and design guidelines.
- Work with the concerned vendors to ensure a multi-party team operates in an efficient and cohesive manner to achieve project success
- Manage the CDMS-TOS Development Process from conception to completion and providing the final recommendation on the CDMS-TOS implementation outcome
Required Skills :
- Project management experience in the field of Terminal Solutions & Container depot management systems (CDMS, TOS, GOS, Gate OCR, Process Automation) with a minimum of 5 prior migrations or full implementations completed. You are expected to have a strong sense of personal ownership of your projects and their successful outcome.
- A minimum of 13 years of experience in the direct management of large, complex projects with responsibility for design, implementation coordination, project scheduling and budget control.
- At least 5 years professional IT leadership experience working in the marine container terminal or container dry port industry is a big advantage.
- Mobility as business trips in Depots are necessary.
- Must BE able to fluently speak/read/write in English.
- Knowledge on how CDMS, TOS, OCR, DGPS and PDS/RTLS solutions work independently or as part of a whole global solution when integrated.
- At least 5 years IT professional experience working in the marine container terminal or container dry port industry is a big advantage.
- Demonstrated leadership of multi-discipline, high performance teams with diverse geographic locations, and cultural backgrounds
- PMI certification and other advanced training is preferred.
- Voluntary IT certification in operating systems and other IT technology products is an advantage. Industry-neutral certifications like those offered by the Computing Technology Industry Association, Project Management Institute or the Security Certified projects are an advantage.
