We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support major projects during both the Proposal/Bidding and Project Execution phases. This role is critical in ensuring that project quantities, scope, and costs remain aligned with contractual commitments and approved budgets.
The successful candidate will act as a key interface between Engineering, Project Management, Procurement, and Subcontracting teams, providing cost control, quantity verification, benchmarking, reporting, and commercial support throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Execution Phase
Design and BOQ Analysis
- Review engineering drawings, 3D models, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) issued by various engineering disciplines.
- Analyze engineered quantities and monitor their evolution throughout the project.
Quantity and Budget Compliance
- Verify that engineered quantities remain aligned with the baseline quantities sold to the client.
- Ensure compliance with contractual budgets and approved project scope.
Deviation Management
- Investigate quantity deviations, overruns, and variances.
- Liaise directly with engineering teams to identify the root causes of discrepancies.
- Differentiate between client-driven changes (Change Orders) and internal design or scope modifications.
- Provide recommendations and supporting documentation for corrective actions.
2. Reporting and Subcontracting Support
Project Reporting
- Prepare and issue monthly quantity and cost control reports.
- Provide clear visibility on project performance, quantity trends, risks, and budget impacts.
- Support Project Management teams in decision-making through accurate reporting and analysis.
Procurement and Subcontracting Support
- Assist the Subcontracting team in preparing Invitations to Bid (ITBs) for construction and work packages.
- Ensure accurate quantity take-offs, scope definitions, and baseline data are included in tender documentation.
- Support bid evaluations from a quantity and commercial perspective.
3. Proposal and Bidding Phase
Estimate Validation
- Review and validate material quantities and cost estimates prepared by proposal and tendering teams.
- Ensure estimates are technically sound, complete, and commercially competitive.
Benchmarking and Cost Analysis
- Conduct benchmarking exercises using historical project data.
- Compare current estimates against previous project performance to validate assumptions and identify risks.
- Support the development of accurate and competitive bids through data-driven analysis.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Cost Engineer, or similar commercial/project controls role within engineering, construction, energy, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of BOQs, quantity take-offs, cost control, and project budgeting.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and 3D models.
- Experience managing quantity deviations, change orders, and scope variations.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and project reporting tools.
- Experience supporting tendering, procurement, and subcontracting activities is highly desirable.
