What they need
Context
Our client is a fast-growing tech company currently going through an important phase of organisational transformation, especially across its Sales and Marketing teams.
The current HR leader is covering both a hands-on HRBP role and an interim CPO scope, which is no longer sustainable. A permanent HRBP has already been hired and will start in October. In the meantime, the company is looking for an experienced Freelance HR Business Partner to ensure continuity, provide strong day-to-day support, and maintain close proximity with the teams.
The scope covers around 80 employees across Sales, Marketing, Data Analytics and Performance Marketing. The population is relatively young, with a high level of technical expertise, particularly in performance marketing and data-driven roles.
The HRBP role is already very well embedded in the organisation and clearly identified by managers as a strategic HR partner position. The freelancer will therefore step into a visible, trusted and business-critical role.
Mission
As Freelance HRBP, your mission will be to quickly take ownership of the Sales & Marketing HRBP scope and act as a close business partner to managers and employees.
You will support teams that have experienced significant organisational and leadership changes over the past few years. Some employees have gone through several managers in a short period of time, changes in structure, reduced management layers, unclear scopes and questions around career progression.
Your role will be to bring proximity, clarity and stability, while helping managers move forward on key people topics.
You will work closely with the interim CPO, who will remain available for strategic guidance, support and escalation, but the expectation is for you to be quickly operational, autonomous and hands-on.
Key Responsibilities
HR Business Partnering
Act as the main HR point of contact for the Sales, Marketing, Data Analytics and Performance Marketing teams.
Build trusted relationships with managers and employees through regular one-to-ones and close proximity.
Provide hands-on support on day-to-day HR topics, employee situations and team dynamics.
Help managers address engagement, retention, performance and organisational challenges.
Maintain a strong HR presence and ensure that people topics are properly followed up.
Organisation & Change Support
Support the new Marketing Director in finalising the Marketing organisation and rebuilding the team.
Help clarify roles, responsibilities and scopes where there is ambiguity or friction.
Support teams after a period of major organisational changes, leadership transitions and resource contraction.
Contribute to re-engagement and retention efforts, especially in a context where some employees may question their career progression and future within the company.
Bring structure and follow-through without over-engineering processes.
Employee Relations & Operational HR
Manage operational HR topics with a pragmatic and business-oriented approach.
Provide guidance on standard French labour law topics such as notice periods, holidays, employee situations and contractual matters.
Move topics forward independently while knowing when to escalate more complex or sensitive situations.
Handle individual cases with maturity, discretion and emotional intelligence.
Ensure regular follow-up with employees and managers.
Manager Support
Support managers in their people management responsibilities.
Act as a sounding board on team structure, employee engagement, retention risks and communication.
Help managers navigate uncertainty and rebuild clarity after recent changes.
Partner closely with business leaders while staying connected to employee needs and concerns.
What Will Make You Successful
You will succeed in this mission if you are able to quickly become a trusted HR partner for both managers and employees, while relieving the interim CPO from operational HRBP topics.
The company needs someone who can combine business proximity, operational execution and strong people sensitivity. The environment has experienced significant changes, so the role requires someone who can bring stability, clarity and confidence without trying to impose overly rigid processes.
This is not a mission for someone looking for a perfectly structured HR environment. The right person will be comfortable with ambiguity, changing priorities, sensitive people topics and hands-on execution.
