Join Us at the Forefront of Quantum Computing Innovation

Description of the Team/Project

The detection and generation of single photons, key elements in our quantum photonic computer architecture, require cryogenic temperatures of a few Kelvins. To achieve such temperatures and maintain a functional system, the creation and robust management of a high vacuum is necessary.

To work on these topics, you will join the hardware integration team. In this team we are bridging R&D to production by developing physical systems and software to unify subsystems into one functional quantum computer.

Your Key Responsibilities

Vacuum generation optimization:

- To accelerate and optimize vacuum generation procedures, you will study the effects of material integrations within vacuum chambers (activated carbon, pre-drying of the atmosphere, heating of the surfaces). All these phenomena will be studied quantitatively using, e.g. a mass spectrometer and vacuum gauges. The aim is to push the vacuum performance to its limit and, as well as optimize the time required to achieve them.
- This first part will require the creation and implementation of rigorous protocols involving long-term measurements. It will enable the mobilization and development of knowledge in very low-pressure thermodynamics You will build a theoretical background in low-pressure gases to interpret your results. You will also gain experience in the development of robust measurement and data analysis scripts.

Autonomous module for cryogenics safety prototyping:

- You will work on the prototype of an autonomous cryostat management system. The goal is to have an embedded system that ensures the integrity of the vacuum and cooling system. The mission will therefore be to propose a solution that integrates communications with various devices within a computer and implements the logic chain that guarantees the integrity of the system. You will then have to test this system to validate its proper functioning.
- This second part will involve a significant amount of development (Python, git) and testing. Mechanical integration constraints will also be studied to ensure the compactness and maintainability of the system.
- You will need imagination to build standard (and less standard) scenarios that the system could go through to build a representative testing campaign.

- Swile Card (meal vouchers)

- 50% participation in transportation costs

- Possibility of remote work (1 day / week)
- Internship Allowance between €1,200 and €1,400 per month

- 1,5 days off per month, cumulative
