The Business Automation TeamThe Business Automation team is designing, implementing, and maintaining intelligent automation solutions that streamline business processes and enhance data-driven decision making. We empower business and corporate functions through technology integration, robust data architecture, and process optimization, enabling teams to focus on high-value activities while ensuring accuracy and scalability.
Our team operates across multiple domains, maintaining shared services and supporting Pigment's internal functions through automation solutions. We work with a variety of technologies to build reliable data pipelines and automation workflows that support Pigment's growth and operational efficiency.
Our team tackles diverse challenges, including streamlining the employee onboarding journey from hiring to first day, building data pipelines that collect and analyze platform usage metrics, and creating dashboards that provide actionable insights to enhance customer success. These projects combine process optimization, data engineering, and business intelligence to drive operational excellence.
RoleAs a Junior Automation and Data Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of automation solutions and data pipelines that support Pigment's business functions. You will work closely with senior engineers to implement efficient workflows, improve process reliability, and support our automation and analytics projects. You will work both on simple problems, with a high level of autonomy, and complex cross-functional topics in collaboration of senior peers.
This role involves collaborating with various internal stakeholders at Pigment and requires strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Tech environmentOur core stack relies on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), fully maintained by Terraform code, with components including BigQuery, Cloud Run, Cloud Composer (Airflow), as well as dbt, Fivetran, Hightouch, and Python for automation tasks.You will have the opportunity to learn and grow your skills across these technologies while making a meaningful impact on the Pigment's operational efficiency.

What you'll do

- Under the supervision of the Business Automation team's more senior members, you will participate in addressing the following topics.

Automation Development : - Develop and maintain Python-based automations and solutions to streamline enterprise processes
- Implement integrations between various systems and applications using APIs and other connection methods
- Assist in maintaining CI/CD pipelines for automation projects

Data Integration & Transformation : - Support the implementation of data pipelines that integrate data from various sources, including APIs, external databases, and third-party services
- Assist in transforming raw data into clean and ready-to-use models using SQL and dbt
- Collaborate on data quality monitoring and improvement initiatives

Monitoring and Support : - Help implement monitoring for automation workflows and data pipelines
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing automation solutions
- Assist in documentation of systems, processes, and workflows

Collaboration & Learning : - Work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders - as diverse as HR, Sales and Product Engineering - to understand requirements and implement effective solutions
- Continuously expand knowledge of data engineering and automation best practices
- Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing sessions

Who you are

- Technical skills
- The ideal candidate will possess most or all of the following qualifications. Hands-on experience through personal projects, particularly contributions to open source initiatives, will BE valued equally to professional and academic experience for this role.
- 2+ years of experience in software development, with some sense of data engineering
- Strong coding skills in Python (knowledge of common libraries for automation and data processing is considered as a plus)
- Good understanding of SQL, database and infrastructure as code concepts
- Practical experience with public cloud providers (some experience with GCP is a plus)
- Knowledge of version control systems (Git)
- Attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify edge cases
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative and multicultural environment
- Eagerness to learn new technologies and approaches
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of French is a strong plus

- Strong communication abilities - translating technical concepts to non-technical audiences and active listening skills for accurately capturing business requirements
- Basic project management capabilities - tracking tasks, managing timelines, and reporting progress
