Quel profil recherchons nous ?
- Diplômes et formation
- Diplômé(e) en Médecine Vétérinaire, avec de préférence un doctorat (PhD) en Nutrition Animale ou dans un domaine similaire.
- Une spécialisation auprès de l'un des collèges vétérinaires reconnus en Europe ou aux États-Unis constitue un avantage (Médecine Interne Vétérinaire, Nutrition Comparée Vétérinaire, Médecine Féline ou Reproduction).
- Connaissances / Expérience
- Expérience significative (>5 ans) dans le domaine de la santé animale, des soins aux animaux de compagnie ou de la recherche appliquée vétérinaire.
- Expérience avérée dans la gestion d'équipe dans un contexte scientifique au sein d'une grande entreprise.
- Expérience confirmée en communication scientifique professionnelle, aussi bien auprès de publics techniques que non techniques, indispensable.
- Solide capacité de réseautage externe, démontrée par une implication dans des associations professionnelles, sociétés scientifiques ou affaires réglementaires.

Compétences supplémentaires
- Maîtrise parfaite de l'anglais, à l'écrit comme à l'oral, indispensable.
- Capacité à rédiger, éditer et relire des communications scientifiques et vulgarisées selon des standards professionnels.
- Excellente qualité de jugement, esprit critique développé et solides compétences décisionnelles, essentiels dans les domaines de la communication, des allégations scientifiques et de la gestion des risques.
- Capacité à entretenir des relations professionnelles solides et à obtenir des résultats via des réseaux formels et informels.

Quels seront vos principales responsabilités ?

Incarner les meilleures pratiques et comportements de management
- Fournir un leadership fort et assurer le management hiérarchique d'une équipe de collaborateurs à haute visibilité.
- Être responsable de la performance globale de l'équipe dans l'ensemble de ses domaines de responsabilité.

Diffuser les connaissances scientifiques en interne et en externe
- Être responsable du développement et de la diffusion de messages et de supports scientifiques internes, en soutien aux campagnes d'innovation, de rénovation et d'activation des nouveaux produits.
- Contribuer à mobiliser les collaborateurs de Royal Canin autour de l'histoire, des performances et des bénéfices de nos produits.
- Fournir un accès approprié à un réservoir d'informations permettant de justifier les allégations, d'alimenter les rapports internes et les supports de communication.

Porter la substance scientifique des bénéfices produits et des allégations
- Être garant(e) de la qualité et de la pérennité de la science produite par Royal Canin, en dirigeant la stratégie et les orientations scientifiques relatives aux allégations produits et à leur justification.
- Être responsable de la conformité aux exigences scientifiques définies par les principales autorités réglementaires (Parnuts européens, réglementations FDA, dossiers d'enregistrement obligatoires, etc.).
- Fournir un soutien et des contenus scientifiques en réponse aux éventuelles contestations des autorités.
- Être responsable des revues de validation (Gate Reviews) des projets Discover et des projets de développement.
- Être garant(e) de la validation scientifique des allégations figurant sur les emballages du portefeuille mondial de produits.

Collaborer avec une large communauté de pairs
- Participer activement à la communauté des managers hiérarchiques de la R&D.
- Partager et diffuser la stratégie de support scientifique auprès des interfaces clés : Marketing, Discover, Communication Scientifique, Affaires Réglementaires.
- Contribuer à faire progresser la compréhension des besoins nutritionnels des chiens et des chats, en collaboration avec l'équipe de scientifiques du support scientifique et d'autres experts du domaine.

Pet & Product Science Senior Manager (H/F/X)

Lieu :Aimargues près de Montpellier, France

The job holder will provide first line management for a team of approx. 10 associates.

She/he is expected to lead and motivate the team though a variety of activities, to include :
- Definition of objectives for each individual in the team within the team's strategic framework;
- Regular performance reviews and monitoring of progress against objectives within individual's performance and development plan;
- Provision of coaching and support for individuals to ensure their development;
- Developing the individuals into a cohesive team;
- Support succession planning and recruitment within the team.
- Appropriate internal resource mapping and project allocation

The job holder will establish a strong link with Global Marketing

Through the Innovation Plan and the Marketing Pillar Roadmaps, identify the strategic points of communication on pack and off pack in accordance of the scientific knowledge and the request of the markets. Propose and find solutions to allow RC to BE the scientific leader in health nutrition. Evaluate the scientific risk of the claims to minimize the risk of challenge while allowing impactful messaging.

The job holder will establish a strong link with Scientific Communication & Scientific Affairs
- Define major opportunities and lead the team through their responsibilities in the delivery of scientific toolkits for the internal scientific community, by upgrading the quality of scientific contents and the value given to product performance results and messages
- The connection with Scientific Affairs provide opportunities through scientific engagements (congresses, publications, forums...) to leverage the R&D outcomes, reinforce RC drive on some strategic product territories, provide visibility to associates while reinforcing connection with external KOLs

The job holder will establish a strong link with Regulatory Affairs
- The team's responsibilities involve the timely delivery of product claims dossiers, and to respond to external pressures in the claims and regulatory environments.
- Evaluate the scientific risk of the claims and optimize Claims substantiation and response to challenges

The job holder will establish a strong link with Discover & other major R&D Peers
- Through the Discover Roadmaps and the regular collaboration meetings, identify the needs and opportunities for longer-term scientific research and possibility to influence the research plans
- Assess quality of the discover project deliverables through the lense of scientific substantiation needs & preliminary understanding of regulatory pre-requisites
- Continuously assess competitive benchmark and level of performance vs. competitors. Propose new products to expand and evolve the product portfolio and solutions to improve product performance.

What profile are we looking for?
- Graduated in Veterinary Medicine, with PhD in Animal Nutrition or similar preferred.
- A specialization with one of the recognized European/American Veterinary specialist colleges will BE an advantage (Veterinary Internal Medicine, Veterinary Compared Nutrition, Feline Medicine, and Reproduction)...
- Significant experience (>5 years) in Animal Health, Pet Care or veterinary applied research.
- Proven track record of managing a team in a scientific context in a large corporation
- Significant experience of professional science communications to both technical and non-technical audiences is essential
- Strong external networking capability demonstrated via involvement in external professional associations, scientific societies, trade affairs

Additional Skills

Fluency (written and verbal) in English is critical

The ability to write, edit and review scientific and translational communications to a professional standard is important

Sound decision quality, strong critical thinking and judgment skills are critical in the area of communications, scientific claims and risk mitigation

Peer-relationships are essential as well as the ability to get things done through both formal and informal networks

- Contribute to engaging Royal Canin audience behind the story, performance and benefits of our products
- Provide appropriate access to a reservoir of information that supports claim substantiation, internal reports, and communication materials

Drive the Scientific Substance of our Product Benefits & Claims
- Accountable for the quality and sustainability of the Science provided by RC by leading scientific guidance and strategy for the product claims and their scientific substantiation
- Accountable for the compliance to the scientific requirements as defined through the major authorities' guidelines (European Parnuts, FDA regulations, mandatory registration dossiers...)
- Responsible for providing support & scientific contents in response to challenges raised by authorities
- Responsible for Gate-Reviews of Discover Projects & Development Projects
- Accountable for the scientific validation of on-pack claims of the global product portfolio

Collaborate with a large community of Peers
- Involved as a proactive member of the R&D Line Managers Community :
- Shares & Disseminates Scientific Support Strategy across key interfaces : Marketing, Discover, Scientific Communications, Regulatory Affairs
- Contribute to advancing the business' understanding of dog and cat nutritional needs, in conjunction with the team of scientific support scientists and other subject-matter experts.
