Les missions du poste
This internship will BE carried out between three research entities (Biodata, Microorganisms and Nutrition, Microbiota and Health) of the Lesaffre Institute of Science and Technology. Your role will consist in digging into our microorganism collection to identify specific transporters and enzymatic activities related to putative functions. Within the time frame of the internships two to three research targets will BE explored (dry-lab step 1). This initial stage should reduce the number of candidates for follow-up validation work in the laboratory (wet-lab step 2) with ad hoc assays (microbiology or cell biology) to assess potential biotic candidates (yeast or bacteria).
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with subject matter experts in bioinformatics and host and microbe interactions to understand the research context and gather the relevant publications.
- Acquire competence and autonomy in genomic data mining.
- Identify and extract key genomic features from whole genome sequences and comparison with established benchmark.
- Propose an experimental validation strategy with microbiologists or cell biologists.
- Perform first proof of concept validation assay

Le profil recherché
- Undergraduate candidate in Cell biology with skills in bioinformatics, Computational biology, or a related field (only M2 or Last year Engineering student will BE considered).
- Familiarity with biological sequence data formats, genomic databases, and bioinformatics tools.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- First experience in wet lab with cell culture is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Curiosity and team spirit.
- Good command in English.
The position is open for a duration of 6 months starting asap and not later than Oct 2025.
