Senior Software Development Engineer for Order Booking Management
Business Environment
The Reservation area is the core element of many Amadeus products : IT handles critical steps on trip reservation including booking, ticketing, and Passenger Name Record (PNR) management.
Within the TSR division, our department Booking and Synchronization Management (BSM) covers a comprehensive range of features related to the booking of travels or ancillary services, BE IT online or offline, through EDIFACT or New Distribution Capability (NDC). We manage this entire matrix of orchestration processes, as well as all the corresponding representations in the PNR.
With the travel industry rapidly changing, we are involved in key projects this year for Amadeus, both on travel agency business, like NDC standard or the new Universal Distribution initiative (UDIP), and on airline business, with projects for Star Alliance or Saudi, or the transformation to the Offer/Order model (Nevio). Transversally, we are finalizing the migration to the Cloud, and we value continuous improvement as part of our core values, through SSI or other kinds of proactive maintenance streams.
About the team :
In BSM, the Order Booking Management team is responsible for the storage in the PNR and the processes linked to the booking of Air Segments, from all sources : the standard EDIFACT/XML bookings, the booking of Extended Travel Records (ETR, through ManageTrip verbs) and the NDC bookings. The big focus these days in terms of new deliveries is on the NDC-X program, and in parallel, the team is also highly expected on its knowledge of the more legacy components, which are critical for most of our customers !
The team has the end-to-end responsibility of those components and covers all engineering profiles : PDAs, Software developers, QA Engineers. The team members are involved in 3 different trains, covering Distribution, Airline IT, and Technical areas.
Main Responsibilities
Common accountabilities :
- Has working experience and in-depth technical/functional knowledge in own discipline. Understands how own area contributes to the business. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience and supports team members.
- Influences decisions related to own activity, anticipating dependencies and outcomes in various scenarios, contributes to transversal projects, proposes improvements to processes, and takes responsibility for own and team commitments.
- Works autonomously within plan set by manager, with guidance on more challenging situations.
Specific accountabilities :
- Analyze specifications :
- Define user requirements for the development of new (or upgrade of existing) software solutions.
- Design systems and code :
- Design technical solutions and perform feasibility studies.
- Propose practical technical solutions to Product Management and/or users for validation.
- Develop software according to Amadeus standards.
- Model, design, and implement databases.
- Test and maintain the software :
- Conduct unit, package, and performance tests to maintain quality in line with Amadeus guidelines.
- Participate in the validation phase of the product cycle, fine-tuning when necessary to finalize the product.
- Assist the customer by debugging existing solutions in collaboration with Product Manager or Product Definition Analyst.
- Identify and address software problems.
- Document your work :
- Produce software documentation necessary for the application and provide IT to the requesting departments.
