Cybersecurity Expert Freelance H/F Smile Group

We are currently looking for a talented Cybersecurity Expert (Freelance) to join our dynamic team and work on high-impact projects for one of our major clients.

Position Overview

• Status: Freelance

• Location: Brussels, Belgium (Hybrid model: 2-3 days of remote work per week)

Your Responsibilities
As a Cybersecurity Expert, your daily missions will include:

• Assessing the security posture of infrastructures, applications, and cloud environments, and recommending remediation plans.

• Designing and implementing security architectures and controls (IAM, network segmentation, encryption, Zero Trust).

• Monitoring, detecting, and responding to security incidents in collaboration with SOC teams (SIEM, EDR/XDR).

• Managing vulnerabilities: scanning, prioritization, and follow-up of corrective actions.

• Contributing to compliance with standards and regulations (ISO 27001, NIS2, GDPR, DORA where applicable).

• Integrating security into development and DevOps processes (DevSecOps, secure code reviews, pipeline security).

• Writing security policies and procedures, and raising awareness among teams.

• (For Senior profiles) Acting as a trusted advisor to clients, steering security roadmaps, and mentoring team members.

Profile & Technical Skills

• Proven experience in cybersecurity (security engineering, architecture, or operations).

• Strong knowledge of network and system security, IAM, and cloud security (Azure, AWS, or GCP).

• Hands-on experience with security tools (e.g., Microsoft Sentinel, Defender, Splunk, CrowdStrike, Nessus/Qualys).

• Good understanding of security frameworks and regulations (ISO 27001, NIST, NIS2, CIS).

• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, OSCP, or Azure Security Engineer (AZ-500) are a strong asset.

• Excellent analytical skills, rigor, and a strong team spirit.

• Language: Professional fluency in English. Knowledge of French or Dutch is a plus.
