About the Role

We are looking for a motivated Software Engineer to join the team building our Kubernetes-as-a-Service (KaaS) platform, which enables customers to provision and manage production-grade Kubernetes clusters with high automation, observability, and security. You will develop and maintain features of the orchestration platform and its in-cluster components, alongside senior engineers who will support your ramp-up on Kubernetes internals and cloud-native development. This role is designed as a learning path: you will start on well-scoped features and progressively take ownership of larger components.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain features and bug fixes of our Kubernetes orchestration platform (written in Python and Go), within a scope defined with your tech lead.
• Contribute to in-cluster components (controllers/operators, CRDs, Helm charts) under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Write and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, and help keep our CI/CD pipelines green.
• Automate recurring tasks of the cluster lifecycle (deployment, upgrades, configuration) and improve our internal tooling.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and RFCs - asking questions is part of the job.
• Write and update technical documentation for the features you deliver.
• Investigate and fix bugs escalated to the team, at code level: reproduce the issue, find the root cause, write the fix and the regression test - with support from experienced engineers.
• Grow your expertise in the Kubernetes and CNCF ecosystem, and share your findings with the team.

Required Skills & Experience

• 0 to 3 years of professional software engineering experience - internships, apprenticeships, and personal or open-source projects count.
• A degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience.
• Working knowledge of Python or Golang - willingness to become proficient in both.
• First hands-on experience with containers and Kubernetes (Docker/containerd, Pods, Services, Deployments, ConfigMaps) as a user of the platform.
• Comfortable with Linux, the command line, and Git-based workflows.
• Basic understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, TLS) and of REST APIs.
• Awareness of testing and CI/CD practices.
• Curiosity, rigour, and the ability to learn fast in a complex technical environment.
• Good communication skills and a taste for agile, remote, or cross-functional teamwork.
• Professional working proficiency in English (written and spoken).

Nice to have

• Exposure to Kubernetes cloud offers (AWS EKS, GCP GKE, Scaleway Kapsule or OVH Kubernetes service).
• First use of Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible) or of Helm.
• Notions of observability (Prometheus, Grafana) or of the Kubernetes security model (RBAC, network policies).
• Experience writing a controller or operator, even as a side project.
• Contributions to open-source projects.
• Interest in Rust, Linux internals, or system-level programming.
