Les missions du poste
We are hiring a Senior System Architect to own the system-level design and performance of our LH2 storage and distribution systems. You will define the architecture of cryogenic fuel systems: pressure management, thermal performance, venting, safety, and interfaces with the vehicle platform.
This role sits at the top of the technical tree. You define how the tank operates as a system, translate mission requirements into subsystem specifications, and ensure the design is safe across all ground and flight phases. You will work closely with the structural engineer, safety partners, and the customer's integration team.
Responsibilities :
- Define and maintain the system architecture: P&ID, functional breakdown, pressure levels, operating modes, and interface control documents (ICD).
- Lead thermofluidic analyses: boil-off predictions, pressurisation transients, venting sizing, heat leak budgets. Tools: Python, AmeSim, or equivalent.
- Specify thermal insulation performance: MLI configuration, vacuum interspace design, heat leak allocation.
- Define safety architecture: venting system design, leak budgets, ATEX zoning, pressure relief sizing.
- Coordinate with safety analysis partners (HAZID/HAZOP, PFHA, PSSA, FTA) and ensure system design satisfies their findings.
- Develop the concept of operations (CONOPs): filling, storage, flight operation, defueling, emergency scenarios.
- Manage system-level budgets: mass, power, thermal, pressure drop.
- Support or lead the Pressure Build-Up (PBU) system design (electrical heater-based gaseous H2 supply).
- Define verification and validation strategy: requirements decomposition, means of compliance matrix, test plan contributions.
- Interface with the customer's aircraft integration team on thermal, fluidic, and electrical interfaces.
Le profil recherché
Education
- Engineering degree (MSc or equivalent) in mechanical engineering, energy systems, chemical/process engineering, or aerospace.
Experience
- Minimum 10 years in system design of cryogenic, thermal, or fluid systems.
- Proven track record in at least one of: cryogenic storage systems, LNG/LH2 fuel systems, or industrial gas equipment.
- Experience producing P&IDs, system specifications, and interface documents.
- Hands-on thermofluidic modelling (1D system simulation, analytical methods, or CFD).
Technical Skills
- Thermofluidics: heat transfer, two-phase cryogenic hydrogen behaviour.
- Simulation tools: AmeSim, Python, or equivalent. CFD awareness (StarCCM+, Fluent) is a plus.
- Safety: familiarity with hydrogen safety standards and safety analysis methods (HAZID/HAZOP, FTA, FMEA).
- Systems engineering: requirements management, V&V planning, configuration control.
Languages
- Professional English required.
- French is a strong asset.
Desirable
- Direct experience with liquid hydrogen systems.
- Liquid hydrogen supply chain knowledge (valves, heat exchangers, instrumentation).
- Background in aerospace system qualification.
- Experience with sloshing analyses.
- Familiarity with hydrogen gauging methods.
