Context

The Group Category Manager leads the strategy on a category perimeter worldwide, ensuring consistency with the purchasing vision and Group business strategy.

He/she leads and coordinates the purchasing community in his/her perimeter and monitors performance.

He/she defines the appropriate approach to improve purchasing performance in his/her category and supports teams in strategic activities (negotiation, partnership, joint-innovation,...).

He/she constantly looks for partners' satisfaction and value creation, based on strong market intelligence.

He/she depending on his/her profile is involved in the risk management in coordination with the dealing room of Nexans

Area of responsibilty

• Reports to the VP Metallurgy


• Define, propose to the VP Metallurgy & NFM CFO the NFM Category Management and execute the strategy


• Accountable on NFM Purchases conducted in his/her Category whether from External or Internal sources


• Contributes to Market Intelligence on NFM supplier Markets from his category


• Manages delegations within his/her Category


• Recommends NFM purchase delegations within his/her Category to the NFM business leader and execute the strategy


• Under the supervision of the VP Metallurgy defines and leads, the NFM Purchase strategy of his/her Category based on E3 Operating Model (see below)


• Leads the operational implementation of the NFM Purchase Strategy of his/her Category within the Group in coordination with the different countries and factories concerned


• Support in the definition, formalization and implementation control of key GMP policies related to NFM within the Group (6 & 13)


• Supports other Group functions when needed on his/her Category


• Develop Relationship with strategic supplier to achieve strategic partnerships


• Coordinate the network of its NFM categories throughout the group and with concerned stakeholders (factory / quality / Supply chain)


• Negotiate T&Cs and Premium for annual or pluriannual contracts


• Accountable to negotiate, formalize and execute the commercial contract (duty of care)


• Duly represents Nexans and its values and strategy in front of strategic external partners


• Actively contribute and is accountable to the C02 footprint group strategy and its implications for NFM purchases


• Depending on his/her profile, may be the liaison agent with on the management of NFM positions at risk for the rod mills (contango/backwardation & Market place arbitrages)

Expected results

• Accountable on NFM Purchases in his/her category (contract negotiation and execution)


• Propose and define the global optimization of purchasing strategy based on E3 Operating Model


• Accountable for Financial performance /Working Capital targets

Competencies and skills
