Apave International is seeking a Technical Director for Northern Europe and Africa. Reporting hierarchically to the Managing Director of Apave International and functionally to the Group Technical Director, you will play a pivotal role in our global operations.
Permanent contract based in Artigues-près-Bordeaux, Gironde, France
Your Daily Impact:
After a comprehensive onboarding process, your responsibilities will include:
Product Development & Maintenance: Overseeing all components of our service offerings (methodology, client deliverables, production tools, staff training). This includes both regulatory services (e.g., construction risk standardization, elevator inspections) and non-regulatory services (e.g. energy management consultancy, labeling).
Operational Oversight: Ensuring high-quality field implementation with the support of subsidiary technical teams.
Compliance & Licensing: Obtaining and maintaining the official authorizations required to operate (License to Operate).
Strategic Advisory: Advising management on industry trends and growth opportunities.
Business Partnership: Supporting operational teams in their business development and upgrading production tools.
External Representation: Acting as Apave's representative with external bodies and authorities.
Market Intelligence: Conducting technical and competitive monitoring.
Sales Support: Providing expertise for complex commercial bids.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Partnering with other Technical Directorates to enhance group-wide skills.
Scope: Your remit covers Apave International Division, northern and European entities, excluding Italy, Spain, and the Middle East (which have their own technical departments). You will be part of an evolving global network of Technical Directorates.
Roles and Responsibilities
As part of the Technical Direction (TD), you will:
Lead a team of approximately ten experts and Domain Managers.
Drive technical leadership within your perimeter in close coordination with the Group Technical Director.
Deploy Group-wide initiatives and collaborate with entities offering similar services.
Support the integration of new acquisitions within your region.
Manage the TD's annual budget, operational frameworks, and strategic roadmap.

About You
You have a proven track record of at least 10 years in technical management within an international context. While you don't need to be a niche specialist in every field, your experience gives you immediate credibility on Apave's technical subjects.
Your Profile:
Deep knowledge of the TIC (Testing, Inspection, and Certification) industry.
Fluent English and French (essential).
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Ability to manage and influence in a non-hierarchical (matrix) environment.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to persuade and inspire confidence.
Ability to thrive in a highly technical corporate culture while driving its evolution.
