Role Expectations
The Network strategy associate director manages the Drug Substance (DS) and/or Drug Products (DP) industrial strategic orientations and the portfolio of industrial network strategy initiatives (opportunities and feasibility assessments) to adapt and optimize the industrial network for the best interest of the group. It encompasses the needs for life cycle management and launches of new products (with potentially new modalities to onboard) in the long-term horizon (10+ years).
She/he works in close collaboration with other IPNS (Industrial Product & Network Strategy) functions. She/he interacts with CMC and industrial functions such as internal/external manufacturing, supply, quality, regulatory, EHS, CMC, MSAT, engineering, performance, procurement, finance. The Network strategy associate director reports to IPNS - Industrial Network Strategy Director.
Main responsibilities
Scope : Drug Substance and Drug Product industrial footprint (internal/external)
1. Build the DS & DP roadmaps:
- Integrate products needs from Product Operation Leads (POL) for life cycle management and new product introduction (one innovation engine including internal development and business development opportunities).
- Align industrial strategy with R&D/CMC and business strategies analyzing Corporate Strategy, Global Product Strategy and R&D triggers and collaborating with respective functions.
- Integrate network risks and business continuity drivers including geopolitical context to support the network resilience.
- Embed sustainability triggers to contribute to the group CSR guidances.
- Build industrial strategic orientations for Drug Substance and Drug Product footprints to optimize the industrial network and prepare it for the future needs of the group. It includes industrial network performance, reliability (risks) & flexibility for example transfers, massification, regionalization including financial, regulatory, technical, capacities & other parameters.
- Align the DS & DP roadmaps with industrial strategic guidelines and ensure the consistency between both.
- Partner with the internal manufacturing, sites leadership teams (via site focal point), external manufacturing and IPNS POL for DS & DP roadmap inputs.
- Present and make endorsed strategic orientations to Tech OPS steering committee ; InLT (Industry Leadership Team) meetings ; Excom governances (Ex. Group Investment Strategic Committee GISC).
- Integrate new technology platforms output.
2. Management of the portfolio of industrial network strategic initiatives:
- Manage the portfolio of network strategic initiatives driven by network strategy team consolidating all the business cases linked to DS & DP footprints evaluated with the internal and external manufacturing.
- Organize periodic review of the portfolio with the DS & DP industrial sites.
- Identify synergies and bottlenecks between the initiatives and propose prioritization methodologies (Ex. Impact/feasibility matrixes) to align with DS & DP roadmaps orientations.
3. Long Term Industrial Planning (LTIP) and 10YP CAPEX focal point:
- Ensure the consistency of the DS & DP roadmap future capabilities/capacities with the long term forecasts.
- LTIP charge capacity analysis with supply strategic planning providing the hypotheses of the evolution of the industrial network.
- Act single point of contact of IPNS for LTIP capacity utilization analysis with LTIP teams.
- Update the industrial network strategy powerBI.
- Capacity shortages or overcapacities mitigation across the network and coordination with CAPEX plans to propose and to challenge investments when necessary.
- Translate the portfolio of strategic initiatives in potential CAPEX envelopes with Technical & Compliance services / engineering & finance teams for the 10YP CAPEX.
- Make sure that business cases are planned to help transition the envelopes into specific initiatives mapped in the 10YP CAPEX.
4. Technology platform industry leader (to be confirmed once launched)
- Could act as industry representative in the technology platforms with GPS, CMC and other industrial functions (such as MSAT) with the aim to enable faster, reliable and cost-effective onboarding of new technologies across multiple products.
- Plays a cross-functional role that connects the need to integrate new modalities, new technologies in the industrial network including the definition of build, buy, partner or license-in technologies strategies.
- Propose and plan the onboarding of new expertise within industry in defining skills roadmap.
- Define and maintain the technology roadmap aligned with business and CMC pipelines needs.
- Identify technology gaps in the current industrial network (internal & external partners) and future capabilities.
- Define the methodology to build business cases of internalization of new technologies.
- Benchmark external best-in-class technologies in cooperation with MSAT. It encompasses participation to congresses.
- Support potential external partnerships.
- Define with CMC & MSAT the best approach for fastest scale-up and validation strategies to fasten new product introduction.
- Ensure the alignment of the platform with regulatory drivers and compliance with regulatory guidelines. Embed Quality By Design principles.Integrate IP protection in alignment with industrial strategic guidelines.
- Knowledge management: support the establishment of standards, playbooks, and training to document the developed knowhow.
Le profil recherché
Profile required
Educational & Professional Background :
- Minimum Master of Science in Scientific or Engineering field.
- 15+ years of relevant work experience in industrial strategy.
Hard Skills :
- Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry regulations (EHS, CSR, regulatory, quality ...).
- Strong program management background, ability to work in complex environments.
- Data analysis skills (Ex. powerBI).
Leadership Skills :
- Leadership - ability to lead cross-functional teams.
Soft Skills :
- Organization - managing multiple projects concurrently and interact with a large number of functions.
- Strategic thinking and financial awareness.
- Strong personal initiative, global transversal leadership, managing across cultures, participation and influence, negotiation with key stakeholders, change management, working through others, multitasking in a complex environment, and risk taking.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of adjusting communication style between tactical teams, strategic teams, and executive teams. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
