Les missions du poste
The regional climate modeling community is organized internationally through the CORDEX international program. One of the objectives of this program is to make high-resolution climate datasets for various geographical areas openly available to users outside the program. These datasets are made available through the Earth System Grid Federation (ESGF). The CNRM has been contributing to the CORDEX program since its launch in 2009. As part of the current phase of the program, also referred to as CORDEX-CMIP6, the CNRM has recently created a new generation of high-resolution climate simulations for Europe, the Mediterranean, Central America, and Oceania. The CNRM plans to publish these data on the ESGF in 2026. The position offered is part of this context.
Mission:
The selected candidate will be responsible for contributing to the publication of CNRM CORDEX data on the ESGF national node. This work will be carried out in collaboration with other engineers in the research group and under the supervision of CNRM CORDEX manager, Samuel Somot.
Tasks:
The duties of this position will consist of:
- Verifying that the data complies with CORDEX standards (CMOR, etc.) using a dedicated tool, and correcting the data if necessary
- Uploading the data to the CNRM's dedicated servers
- Taking the necessary steps to publish the data on the ESGF national node (indexing, etc.)
- Organizing and archiving the CNRM's CORDEX data
- Documenting and providing user support for this data
Le profil recherché
General requirements:

- Experience in numerical modeling, specifically in the field of climate studies, climate data science, or regional climate modeling, would be appreciated but is not mandatory.
- Experience in data CMORization or publication on ESGF would be appreciated but is not mandatory.
- Experience in handling large volumes of data would be appreciated, but is not mandatory.
Technical skills:
- Good knowledge of the netcdf format
- Familiarity with tools for handling NetCDF files (nco, cdo, etc.)
- Proficiency in the Unix environment (bash scripting)
- Experience with one or more scientific analysis tools (e.g., Python, ncl, R, etc.)
