About the Role
As Mistral's Applied AI Engineer - Prototyping, you'll design and deploy first-of-its-kind AI solutions that inspire customers and push technical boundaries.
You will design, build, and deploy full-stack AI-powered prototypes and solutions working hands-in-hand with our global customers.In this role, you will manage delivery of solutions while interacting with multiple stakeholders (including CEO/CTO, data scientists, and software engineers) and function as a key technical leader during the entire prototype engagement.
What you will do
- Build full-stack AI prototypes for global customers: Design, develop, and deploy end-to-end AI-powered solutions, acting as technical lead to manage delivery from concept to production.
- Drive technical innovation and adoption: Collaborate with research, product, and engineering teams to build internal tools and contribute to open-source projects that accelerate Mistral AI adoption.
- Lead customer engagement and scoping: Conduct scoping calls with clients to understand their use cases, challenges, and requirements, then translate these into actionable technical solutions with significant business impact.
- Solve complex, real-world AI challenges: Deep-dive into diverse customer problems across industries, working on state-of-the-art GenAI applications from consumer products to industrial use cases, while providing ongoing technical guidance and support.
About You
Core- You are fluent in English- You thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced environments and have a problem-solving mindset to deliver robust, scalable solutions.- A builder at heart who balances velocity with precision, delivering technical work with a methodical approach.- You have strong communication skills and can explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.- You are client-focused, with a passion for innovation, exploration of new technologies, and improving existing systems.- You enjoy collaborating with diverse teams and can translate client needs into actionable technical plans.
Technical Competencies- You have 2+ years as a technical individual contributor (ML engineer, software engineer, full-stack) on AI-based products.- You have hands-on experience with LLMs, RAG, and agent-based systems, including their lifecycle and deployment.- You have experience working with Python, write clean, maintainable code and understand scalable architectures (e.g., FastAPI, Pydantic).- You have basic frontend knowledge (e.g., React, Vue) to build modern, user-friendly interfaces efficiently.
Ideally you have:- Won hackathons or built award-winning AI prototypes, demonstrating creativity and execution under tight deadlines.- Experience with Docker Kubernetes, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), and Terraform.- Contributed to open-source projects, in particular in the space of LLMs.- Full-stack & AI expertise: Built end-to-end AI applications (e.g., FastAPI, ).Why join us?
