Job Description Summary
We are seeking a skilled Molecular Biologist with strong data analysis expertise to support our customers and application team in molecular diagnostics and population-based studies (e.g., HPV screenings). This role combines troubleshooting, data analysis, workflow optimization and customer engagement to enhance diagnostic performance and service delivery. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of molecular diagnostic methods and workflows, combined with strong analytical skills and lean acumen to evaluate, interpret, present and advise on complex biological and clinical datasets and workflows.
A working knowledge of statistics is required to ensure robust study evaluation and data validation.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Data analysis: transform insights into actionable results;
- Extract, analyze and interpret data from molecular diagnostic assays (e.g., PCR/qPCR, NGS, HPV testing) for marketing intelligence, troubleshooting purposes, pro-active monitoring and as part of our (future) Professional services offering
- Explore Power BI as a tool for advanced data visualization and management by the local team
- Perform statistical analysis of population-level screening data (e.g., prevalence, incidence, risk stratification).
- Validate and quality-control large datasets; prepare standardized reports for clinical, regulatory, and internal purposes.
- Ensure documentation and reporting are compliant with regulatory standards (ISO, IVDR).

Technical troubleshooting and escalation management
- Support the regional Application and Technical Services team to diagnose and resolve escalated instrument related issues on BD COR and BD MAX system and investigate reagent related issues, including lot-specific anomalies and root cause analysis
- Closely collaborate with CONNECT CoE Trainers and Technical Service to make root causes analysis for incoming complaints
- Closely collaborate with the CONNECT Solution and Data Support Coordinator and CONNECT CoE Trainers to develop MASTER training modules based on identified trends and knowledge gaps identified
- Work hand-in-hand with Global stakeholders to provide pro-active troubleshooting and insights (project ROCKET)
- Play a key role in 3nd line escalation to,- and communication with internal Global and R&D: represent EMEA needs and prioritization. Support scientific discussions, and be able to push back when appropriate.
Molecular diagnostics projects and assay development
- Support the development and optimization of data pipelines for molecular diagnostics projects.
- Collaborate closely with epidemiology, biostatistics, and clinical development teams.
- Create clear data visualizations and presentations for internal stakeholders and external partners (e.g., health authorities).
- Support regional business development (e.g. third party assay development)
Customer Engagement and value added Professional Services:
- Support customer visits to lead discussions on QC and quality assurance
- Conduct pro-active monitoring using TS and RSS data and track KPI's
- Promote and support the roll out of the Molecular Customer Engagement Model within the countries in close collaboration with Regional Marketing
- Develop standardized processes and tools for the execution of Molecular Solution Design Value Gap Assessment and Workflow optimization Services for BD COR and BD MAX. Collaborate with the Solution Design Team and CONNECT CoE on the delivery and roll out (scale up) of such services.
- Optimize and drive the execution of BD MAX Laboratory Optimization and Capacity service in existing BD MAX accounts as part of their contract offering.
- Train and coach local country application specialist Teams in the execution of Molecular Workflow Optimization services
- Explore the development of future workflow related and data driven services within Molecular Diagnostics (e.g. pro-active performance monitoring, inventory support, capacity calculation, accreditation support,...)
- Benchmark customer performance and provide comparative insights
Preferred profile
- Basic qualification in lean (Lean Green Belt)
- Master's degree or PhD in Molecular Biology, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or related field.
- Proven experience in molecular diagnostics; knowledge of HPV testing and screening programs strongly preferred.
- Basic qualification in lean (Lean Green Belt)
- Experience with actually working with real-time PCR, to be used to look at amplification curves, Ct- values, thresholds and other settings used when working with real-time PCR.
- Troubleshooting mindset and understand the complexity between technical components, workflows (user handling) and reagents
- Strong skills in data analysis (R, Python, or equivalent statistical software).
- Sound understanding of statistical methods (hypothesis testing, regression models, data validation).
- Experience handling large-scale biological and/or population datasets.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in interdisciplinary environments.
- Strong English proficiency (written and spoken).
- Be able to connect the dots and think outside the box
- Travel up to 50 % within the EMEA region for training, coaching and mentoring purposes. Able to travel on business on short notice to meet the business objectives.
Compensation range for the position : 55 000 to 65 000 EUR / year
