Les missions du poste

The successful candidate must excel in an energetic, collaborative small-team environment and be able to move seamlessly between medical and engineering cultures. A commitment to high product quality and scientific integrity is essential, along with a strong sense of shared responsibility and shared reward and the ability to make the work fun and interesting.

The Clinical Engineer bridges clinical end users and R&D, translating clinical needs and user insights into actionable inputs for the development of Robeauté's robotic platform. Working closely with the clinical, product and engineering teams, they formulate and refine system requirements based on Voice of Customer (VoC), clinical user feedback, usability studies and preclinical findings.

The role also includes planning, coordinating and executing preclinical and clinical testing with surgeon collaborators, as well as designing and conducting usability studies.

This role reports to the Chief Clinical Officer.

Key Responsibilities

- Collect and structure Voice of Customer (VoC) insights through discussions with surgeons and other clinical end users, workflow observations and user feedback.

- Translate clinical needs, user feedback, usability findings and preclinical study results into clear system requirements in collaboration with R&D.

- Refine system requirements as new evidence emerges, documenting the underlying user needs and rationale in collaboration with the clinical, product and engineering teams.

- Define device test protocols with surgeon collaborators and oversee their execution

- Design and run formative and summative usability studies

- Train surgeons to full proficiency on the robot ahead of clinical implementation

- Validate the platform's readiness ahead of each clinical or preclinical use, and document any technical issues

- Oversee installation of the robot in the OR or preclinical test space

- Collect, manage and structure data following each test session

- Author detailed reports based on the data collected from preclinical or clinical use

- Lead surgical procedure training and provide OR oversight for first-in-human and clinical studies

- Productize the surgical procedure and training, creating dedicated documentation, procedures and workflows.

Building the Surgeon Community

In parallel, the Clinical Engineer will build a detailed understanding of the clinical applications of Robeauté's robotic platform. They will connect with surgeon collaborators and nurture those relationships over time, growing the surgeon community on a foundation of mutual respect.

Cross-functional Collaboration

The Clinical Engineer will work closely with the hardware, software and systems engineering teams to translate clinical and user insights into system requirements and communicate the rationale behind them. They will feed back findings from dry lab, usability, preclinical and clinical studies to support the ongoing refinement of requirements and the development of the platform.

The Clinical Engineer will also participate in the preparation and submission of research grant applications, and will represent Robeauté and its robotic platform at conferences and within the surgeon community as needed.

Le profil recherché

  • Health Insurance - 60% covered by the company.
  • Meal Vouchers - €9.25/day, 60% covered.
  • Transportation Reimbursement - 50% of commuting costs covered.

Robeauté is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome and encourage applications from all qualified candidates, regardless of race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or age.

Requirements

- Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering and/or M.Eng., with equivalent relevant work experience

- Demonstrated experience bridging clinical end users and R&D, translating user needs and clinical feedback into system requirements for medical devices. This experience may have been gained in clinical engineering, product, clinical development or upstream marketing roles.

- Ability to collect and synthesise Voice of Customer (VoC) insights and communicate them clearly to engineering teams.

- Experience preparing and executing medical device testing

- Testing experience across both lab and clinical environments

- Ability to install and repair mechatronic assemblies for testing purposes

- Strong written, verbal and documentation skills in English and French

- Experience with usability testing and human factors

Preferred Qualifications

- Solid knowledge of anatomy and physiology, with the ability to build trust and relationships within the surgeon community

- Ability to effectively communicate Robeauté's product and mission to surgeons

- Strong team orientation, combined with the ability to work independently

- Strong interdisciplinary understanding across robotics, electronics and control systems

- Experience with OR and surgical workflows and training is a plus

Field & Travel Requirements

This role involves regular time in operating rooms and preclinical test environments, and therefore requires the ability to comply with hospital sterile-environment protocols and any applicable vaccination requirements.

The Clinical Engineer should also be available for clinical and preclinical missions abroad as needed. Robeauté provides travel insurance coverage for international missions.

Bienvenue chez Robeauté

At Robeauté we are developing a really small microrobot for novel therapies in hard-to-reach areas of the body.

Designed specifically for the brain, at the service of neurosurgeons, our microrobot will be able to freely navigate in other complex regions of the body to perform biopsies, collect precise anatomically localized data and deliver therapies on site, at the right dosage.

We are accompanying a major shift from robotic surgery to microrobotic surgery, for greater precision, better results and bold new therapies to tackle global diseases affecting more than a billion people worldwide.

Our microrobot will light a spark in the minds of medical practitioners and scientists around the world, allowing them to imagine and create more effective treatments, to be delivered locally.

We are a pluridisciplinary and multicultural team of passionate, skilled, supportive and creative people, at the crossroads of microrobotics, engineering and medicine. We work with phenomenal medical centers and university labs in Europe and the United States.

Our team is growing and we are constantly on the lookout for highly-talented individuals. Working with us means working on something that has never been done before, so you will be challenged - and you will be supported.

We are team players, with both classical and atypical backgrounds, so unconventional thinking is welcome and good communication skills are a must.

We are based in Paris, France.
