We are seeking a Vessel Operation Engineer to manage the preparation, coordination, and monitoring of marine and offshore vessel operations, primarily within Oil & Gas or marine energy projects.
Profile:
The ideal candidate is a marine or offshore engineer with proven experience in vessel operations related to complex offshore activities.
Required skills and qualities:
Degree in Marine Engineering, Offshore Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
Experience in vessel operations (e.g., AHTS, barges, installation vessels, support vessels)
Solid understanding of marine systems, maritime logistics, and offshore HSE requirements
Strong communication and organizational skills
Team player, able to coordinate with multiple departments (engineering, site teams, QHSE, etc.)
Fluent in professional English (spoken and written)
Main Responsibilities:
The Vessel Operation Engineer will act as a liaison between project teams, vessel crews, suppliers, and maritime authorities to ensure safe and efficient offshore operations.
Key responsibilities include:
Technical preparation of marine operations (procedures, documentation, scheduling)
Operational follow-up of vessels during mobilization, offshore campaigns, and demobilization
Coordination between engineering teams, HSE, logistics, and vessel captains
Monitoring of operational performance and preparation of activity reports
Participation in coordination meetings and risk reviews (HAZID, HAZOP, etc.)
Ensuring all operations comply with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
Additional Requirements:
Willingness to travel offshore or to site/vessels as required
Knowledge of planning tools (MS Project, Primavera) and/or marine engineering software (Navisworks, OrcaFlex, etc.) is an asset
Valid offshore certifications (BOSIET/FOET) and medical fitness for offshore work (if applicable)
