About the job
The Corporate Credit Risk team consists of 1 Manager and 5 specialized team members, each focused on distinct market segments: SMB, Mid Market & New Verticals, Enterprise, PSP & International.
Our mission is to drive Alma's sustainable growth by proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating any risk that could impact our business operations and financial performance.
In practice, that means:
- Strategic risk assessment: Evaluating opportunities and setting appropriate risk and financial terms (product offering, pricing, purchase amounts, payout delays, reserves, etc.) to maximise revenue while limiting consumer and merchant risk.
- Portfolio management: Continuously monitoring margin performance and merchant portfolio risk; proactively identifying pockets of growth and early warning signals; and implementing revenuegenerating or mitigation actions to maximise margins (both top and bottom line).
- Process excellence: Building and optimising processes and tools to sustain highperformance risk management throughout the merchant lifecycle in the most costefficient way.
Your Mission:
As an Enterprise Credit Risk Analyst, you will serve as a strategic guardian of Alma's financial interests and reputation, specializing in the assessment and management of risks associated with large-scale enterprise merchants (including prestigious brands like Maisons du Monde, SNCF, or La Redoute).
This is a highly strategic role that directly supports Alma's ambitious upmarket expansion strategy. As we continue our successful evolution from our SMB origins to capturing significant enterprise market share, you will be instrumental in enabling this growth while maintaining our risk standards and profitability targets.
Reporting directly to the Corporate Credit Risk Manager, you will be responsible of:
- Risk assessment & Decision-making
- Rigorously assess Enterprise opportunities across multiple dimensions: merchant strategy, business model and commercial structure, financial strength and creditworthiness, shareholder stability and corporate goverance, market reputation and product/service quality.
- Decide whether to partner and establish optimal business terms including pricing strategies (with Finance), contractual protections (with Legal), and comprehensive risk mitigation frameworks.
- High-risk merchant monitoring & Portfolio management
- Closely monitor the financial health of our most critical merchants, identify weak signals early, and recommend strategic risk mitigations (e.g., transaction limits, reserve implementation, revised terms, or exit).
- Partner with Key Account Managers to shape the strategy and narrative with the merchant; actively participate in high-level negotiations, often with merchant leadership (CEO/CFO).
- Portolio optimization
- As a business partner to Revenue teams, proactively monitor the margin performance of Enterprise accounts.
- Codefine the winning plan to maximize revenue and merchant satisfaction while minimizing losses (e.g., upsell, crosssell, and calibrated risk parameter optimization).
- Go-to-market strategy co-construction
- Help shape our GTM with Legal and Revenue stakeholders to unlock significant new revenue pools by addressing new market segments (e.g., marketplaces), while safeguarding Alma's legal and financial interests and maximising operational efficiency.
- Collaboration and communication
- Build strong, productive relationships with crossfunctional stakeholders-including DirCo members-in Sales, Account Management, Finance, Fraud, Risk Modelling, Legal & Compliance, Operations, and Product & Engineering to drive sustainable growth.
- Continuous Improvement
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging risks, and best practices in merchant risk management to continuously enhance processes, policies, and tooling to strengthen risk mitigation and scalability.
