Here in France, you'll help evolve and grow our business. The role is in the Continental Europe Financial Planning and Analysis team. The purpose of the team is to work closely with the Continental Europe CEO and CFO, providing them with insightful financials to support strategic decision making and drive better business performance within the entity.

The role holder will BE supported by team members based in Paris, Germany and India and will BE expected to work closely with colleagues in the regional team in London. The team is high profile, with frequent exposure to the Continental Europe CFO, Head of Strategy and other senior business leaders. The focus on internal and external reporting will require the role holder to form strong relationships with the Continental Europe Business Finance, ALCM teams as well as with other teams in Finance and the Continental Europe Strategy team. This role will suit an individual who enjoys teamwork, is looking to work in a dynamic and fast changing environment and is keen to develop their business knowledge.

In this role you will :

The role holder will BE the gatekeeper of business and segment performance reporting and forecasting, and as such is expected to engage closely with Finance teams to ensure consistency and controls across the reporting and forecasting of entity performance. The role holder will have a broad range of responsibilities with a strong focus on internal and external reporting as follows.
- Leading the team's work on internal reporting including overseeing the preparation of monthly finance packs, preparing papers for Audit Committee and writing summary emails and briefing notes for the CEO and CFO. The emphasis is on highlighting key issues both on a historical and forward-looking basis in a succinct and easily understandable format
- Take ownership of the Finance performance section in the Universal Registration Document, on a semestrial and yearly basis, with the objective to disclose key elements on HBCE performance and per each line of business
- Owning the production of profitability reporting as part of the bank's regulatory disclosures (SREP), working with Treasury and Financial Control teams and applying appropriate controls and practises
- Providing ad-hoc support for MI requests raised by senior management and stakeholders across Finance. The role holder will also BE expected to contribute to the periodic reporting provided by the CFO to the CSE
- Manage the quarterly forecast update, driving understanding of business performance with local and global stakeholders and identifying areas of risks and opportunities
- Lead the Financial Resource Planning process (5 years plan), from initial instructions to final presentation to HBCE Governance meetings, ensuring timely delivery, understanding of movements and events captured into the plan, and proper governance around the figures, including review by our second line of defence and Directors
- Analysing Return on Tangible Equity, explaining fluctuations in RoTE by RoTE and preparing analysis to support discussions to improve business performance. Assisting in the assessment of financial metrics under stress and downside scenarios and the identification of drivers to improve business performance.
- Ensure proper Regulator recommendations follow-up and implementation, including regulatory reports delivery on a timely manner with high quality standard.

The team works closely with Strategy, providing input into papers and presentations for Europe Board, ExCo and senior executive meetings.

The role includes leading transformation of reporting in partnership with regional and Global teams, including the use of digital visualisation tools to enhance reporting and drive efficiencies.

Conditions

You should apply if you have :
- Qualified Accountant from recognised EU / UK institute or overseas equivalent with significant PQE
- Excellent written English and communication skills, including the ability to write formal papers and translate complicated financial issues into clear (non-jargon) language and to create concise and informative PowerPoint slides
- Analytical skills with a commercial bias, and an excellent grasp of business drivers
- Organisation and planning skills, ability to engage with Group wide processes and engage up and down stream stakeholders to identify and deliver HBCE requirements
- Proven influencing skills and an ability to engage and build relationships with a range of stakeholders, including senior management
- Ambitious, driven and enthusiastic - pro-active thinker
